About PST
Portland Story Theater, brain child of Lynne Duddy, was launched in 2003 to bring the urban community together for a unique performance experience, telling tales that stimulate the mind and rouse the heart. Using personal story as the foundation, tellers work collaboratively to expose and explore the universality of the human experience. This is live theater as you've never seen it before, with no sets, no costumes, no props, and no fourth wall --- just the teller and the audience and the authentic story that unfolds between them.

Okage Sama De is Portland Story Theater's tenth major production in Portland. Past productions have included
Shackleton: The Endurance Licking The Plate; Who Am I And Where Is My Coffee?; And Then The Bed Broke!; Always Say Yes!; Beginner's Luck; Everybody's Got One; All the Wrong Places; and Love, Death, and Other Scary Stuff.

I am what I am because of you
Caught up in the patriotic fever shortly after the bombing of Pearl Harbor many Nisei, or second generation Japanese Americans volunteer to fight for their country. Although the United States views them with deep suspicion, this is a journey they undertake with deep respect for family and country. During their evolution from raw recruits to combat veterans they learn about courage and honor, to be part of a team, and the tragic reality of war. Ironically, while liberating people from places like Dachau, many had family incarcerated in American "relocation centers" such as Minidoka, Gila River, and Tule Lake.

Join storyteller Alton Takiyama-Chung and musician Mike Van Liew, as they weave the tales of these men, who fought against the enemy and prejudice with courage and distinction, leaving behind a rich legacy of honor for future generations.

This production is in partnership with the Oregon Nikkei Legacy Center and the Japanese American Citizen's League Portland Chapter.

On Sale Now!
Ever go shopping even when you don't need anything? Maybe you saw your friend's iPod and really wanted one just like it. Maybe you saw the ad for the aerating cat water dish in SkyMall magazine. Or maybe you were bored, and a little blue, and just wanted a pick-me-up. Come hear true stories, pulled from man-on-the-street interviews, that explore and play with our reasons for shopping.

April 11, 12, 18, 19 ~ Lynne Duddy
dark matter
96 percent of the universe is stuff we've never seen. Everything on our beloved planet, every planet, every star, moon, asteroid, comet, nebula and gas cloud make up the visible 4 percent. Using the science of humankind as a metaphor for the human heart, Lynne weaves a tale through the darkness into the light. Just how much does our own darkness feed our light? And like the cosmos, does our knowledge of the dark matter increase our understanding of what we can see?
